GlescaPal henrietta from Denmark commissioned this atmospheric and nostalgic painting of "Bridgeton Cross 1950s" _1950s(copyright).jpg) It is an original composition and is painted using acrylic on canvas board measuring 508 x 406 mm (20" x 16"). The painting is protected by two coats of gloss varnish and was signed and dated by me in March 2010. The tenements on the left and right were designed by James Thomson, one of Glasgow's foremost tenement architects and were built in 1871. Bridgeton Mansions (centre) with their onion-crowned turret were the last tenements to be completed at the Cross in 1899.

GlescaPal henrietta, from Denmark commissioned this painting of "Parkhead Cross, 1950s". It is an original composition and is painted using acrylic on canvas board measuring 508 x 406 mm (20" x 16"). The painting is protected by two coats of gloss varnish and was signed and dated by me in April 2010. Looking westward along Gallowgate, Burgher Street is located to the left of the two women returning home from a day's shopping. A tramcar emerges from Springfield Road in front of the red motor car. Duke Street is to the right from which a number 30 tramcar emerges en route to Dalmarnock from Blairdardie in the north west of the city. The number 1 tramcar from Dalmarnock is about to turn left into Duke Street en route to Scotstoun West. It is followed by two coronation tramcars coming along the Gallowgate towards the Cross from the City Centre en route to Shettleston and Tollcross. The pedal cyclist is turning into Westmuir Street and the green Austin mini car is heading east along Tollcross Road towards Mount Vernon. .jpg) GlescaPal henrietta wrote: "... As a result of the volcanic ash disruption to air travel in April 2010 I spent a few days in York with my daughter Vivienne. We enjoyed lunch in "The Teddy Bears Tea Rooms" on Stonegate and in listening to the staff explain the history of the shop premises. Stonegate leads from the River Ouse directly up to York Minster and is one of the oldest paved streets in Europe. The tea rooms are housed in a medieval building dating back to the early 15th century. A sea captain lived in the house in the mid 17th century and mounted a ship's figure head from the quarter deck of a vessel on the corner of the building. My daughter took several photographs of the shop premises and asked me to paint it for her. I painted "The Teddy Bears Tea Rooms, York" using acrylics on canvas board measuring 406 x 305mm (16" x 12") and protected it with two coats of gloss varnish. .jpg)

The Shambles is York's most famous street and is the only one mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It is so narrow that, from the upper storeys of its two timber-framed medieval buildings, people can shake hands across the street. For centuries butchers and slaughter-houses occupied the street. Today gift shops have taken over the street with the last remaining butcher being located in Little Shambles. The Shambles takes its name from the low wide shelves (shammels) on which the butchers displayed their meat in front of their shop windows. "The Shambles, York" was drawn by me from a photograph taken by my daughter Vivienne in May 2009. I used graphite on extra smooth Bristol board (250gsm/115lbs) measuring 297 x 210mm (12" x 8"). The view looks south along Shambles with Little Shambles on the right. During my visit to York in April 2010 I was inspired to paint "The Shambles at Night" using the graphite drawing as reference. I used acrylics on canvas board measuring 406 x 305mm (16" x 12") and protected the painting with two coats of gloss varnish. The painting was signed and dated by me in May 2010. Lesley of Turnberry Guest House, York , wrote: "...your paintings are lovely! I particularly like the painting of The Teddy Bear Cafe. You are a very talented chap."

Macassar was a 16 year old (80 years in human terms) domestic black cat when I painted her using acrylic on canvas board measuring 508 x 406 mm (20" x 16"). The painting is protected with two coats of gloss varnish. It was signed and dated by me in August 2010. .jpg) Macassar suffered from Hyperthyroidism and kidney trouble because of her age. Her health conditions were treated by medication and she was the oldest cat in our family. Macassar died on 16 October 2012 just 11 days short of her 18th birthday (88 years in human terms). Macassar was one of triplets. Her sister Ebony was knocked down by a motor car outside our home and died on 17 February 2003, age 8 years and six months. Their brother, Jakob, as far as we know, still lives with the veterinary nurse who fell in love with him eighteen years ago.

So much talent out there well done. I went to Peter Howsen wedding a few years back I knew his wife very well. I watched him paint many a time wish I had asked for a few of his cast off ;)as he use to chuck them into the bin then back in the 80's and I saw a few of his painting's in the studio in the Gallowgate warehouse before he made the big time. I watched him draw some amazing stuff back then, its such a gift to be able to draw and paint some wonderful paintings its such a talent your all so lucky .
