Gwen Mackie, Hamilton, treated herself to this watercolour painting, "Hamilton Mausoleum". I painted the Mausoleum on Bockingford watercolour paper (300gsm/140lbs) measuring 355 x 254mm (14" x 10") using a limited palette comprising red, yellow and blue. .jpg)

Ann Wilson, London, treated herself to "Some Fruit and a Glass of Wine" to enhance her kitchen. I painted this still life using acrylic on canvas board measuring 400 x 300mm (16" x 12").

Ian Matthews, Surrey, bought "Escher's Waterfall" because he enjoys looking at the optical illusion in colour. M C Escher's waterfall depicts a watercourse that flows in a zigzag along the long sides of two elongated Penrose triangles (the impossible triangle), so that it ends up two storeys higher than it began. The resulting waterfall, forming the short sides of both triangles, drives the mill water wheel. My rendering of Escher's waterfall is painted using acrylic on canvas board measuring 400 x 300mm (16" x 12"). .jpg)

Michael Doyle, Cumbernauld, bought "Bridgeton Cross - 1960" which I painted using acrylic on canvas board measuring 400 x 300mm (16" x 12"). This is a vibrant and nostalgic scene of Glasgow Corporation transport filing past Bridgeton Central Railway Station, located in London Road. The number 106 trolley bus, en route to Govan, is turning into Bridgeton Cross. It is followed by the number 46 motor bus en route to Castlemilk. The number 18 coronation tramcar is directly in front of Bridgeton Central Railway Station. .jpg)

Roberta McGowan, Bowling, treated herself to "Dalmarnock Bridge - 1960" because it reminded her of her childhood play area. .jpg) I painted the scene from a Glesca Pals black and white photograph taken in September 1960. I used acrylic on canvas board measuring 406 x 305mm (16" x 12").

Brian Collins, Ardrossan, treated himself to "Oot Tae Play" an original acrylic painting on canvas board measuring 610 x 455mm (24" x 18") because it reminded him of his childhood games. Brian Collins wrote: "....the paintings are excellent and certainly gave us all a buzz working out the street games."

Brian Collins, Ardrossan, treated himself to "Winter at Bridgeton Cross - 1950's", an original acrylic painting on canvas board measuring 508 x 406mm (20" x 16"). Looking southwards beyond the Umbrella, Dalmarnock Road is to the left from which a number 46 motor bus from Castlemilk enters the Cross. A motor vehicle emerges from Main Street behind the number 26 tramcar, en route to Scotstoun via Partick. James Street is located to the right of the taxi which is adjacent to Cockburn the Chemist and behind the pedal cyclist. The number 17 tramcar on the left is about to enter Dalmarnock Road en route to Cambuslang via Farme Cross. The snow covered cars heading south towards Bridgeton Cross Mansions have entered the Cross from Orr Street. The traffic policeman stops the flow of traffic to enable pedestrians to cross over to the Umbrella and also the slow moving horse and cart to cross over to the correct side of London Road, having just entered the Cross from Olympia Street. The coalman and his horse and cart are heading along London Road towards Calton. .jpg)

Brian Collins, Ardrossan, treated himself to "Dreepin' Aff A Dyke" an original acrylic painting on canvas board measuring 406 x 305mm (16" x 12"). The Wembley Bar located at the junction of Dunn Street and Baltic Street in the east end of Glasgow was a favourite haunt of local glescapals. The tenements in Baltic Street are in the process of being demolished due to re-development of the area in the late 1960's. The background tenements front Dalmarnock Road between Dunn Street and Fairbairn Street. In the foreground some young glescapals are kickin' a ba' aboot while two weans are climbin' and dreepin' aff a dyke. I've used artistic license to show a couple of gas street lamps wi' a wee lassie swingin' on a rope attached tae wan o' the lamp posts. I'm no' sure if the other wee lassie hingin' oan tae the clothes pole is watchin' her pal swingin' or the boys playin' fitba'. .jpg)

Mihalis Kouropoulos, Athens, Greece, bought this early painting of "Bridgeton Cross, Glasgow, 1954". I painted it in December 2006 using acrylic on canvas board measuring 400 x 300 mm (16" x 12") and protected it with two coats of satin varnish. Compare it with "Saturday Night at Bridgeton Cross -1950s" commissioned by Brian Collins, Ardrossan, Ayrshire, to see how my work has improved. .jpg)
