For those who enjoy mystery & crime 'The Dilemma' is a well-written, very gripping story, and at £3.99 it's a great little stocking filler :-)
Well done Nell!

Hi Norrie, it is an ebook, it costs £3.99. You have to read it on your computer or print it out. You download it on PDF format. I have bought ebooks before they are OK to read on the screen or print out. They are cheaper than buying from the shop.

Hi Norrie, it is an ebook, it costs £3.99. You have to read it on your computer or print it out. You download it on PDF format. I have bought ebooks before they are OK to read on the screen or print out. They are cheaper than buying from the shop. I don't want to put a damper on your pleasure, Nell, but you don't have to read ebooks on your computer, or print them out. You can read them on portable ebook readers like the Amazon Kindle - but unfortunately not your book. I had a look at the site, and it is not a simple PDF format book, which would be readable on the Kindle, but what is known as ADE format. (Adobe Digital Edition) If you want your book to reach as big a market as possible, that is a bad move. There are now hundreds of thousands of people with Kindles who would be potential buyers of your book, if it had been released in a more amenable format. It is quite possible to construct and publish ebooks yourself, and to do so in a more universally recognised format - even including a cover of your choice.

Here's a sample of a wee ebook ah cobbled thegither, taken from the pages of GlescaPals jokes. It's only a few pages long, but should be readable on a Kindle for anybody that's got wan. Ah hope the webbie disnae mind me usin the stuff, but it's only gonnae be on the messageboard. Ye should also be able tae read it on the PC if ye download the free Mobipocket reader. Mebbe ye should hiv a look at publishin yer ain ebooks in the future, Nell. Attachments:

There are various programs that allow you to create ebooks, but sometimes you don't even need them. Simple text files (.txt) are readable on the Kindle, and that may be enough for some purposes. For items like your book, that obviously isn't enough, since you want the visual appeal of a decent cover and a good layout, as well as an interesting content. Cover and layout control aren't really available in .txt format. It's a matter of experiment to find out what suits you best. Two free programs I've used are Calibre and Mobipocket Creator. (You also need to download Mobipocket Reader to read the books created in either .prc or .mobi format, if you want to view them on the PC.) You can also purchase commercial programs for ebook creation. Here is a link to a general discussion site on all aspects of ebooks - the different formats and readers, creation of ebooks, etc. Ye'll need tae dae a bit of browsing, but ah'm sure ye'll be able tae find something that'll let ye get yer books intae a suitable ebook format. wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Main_Page
