M C Escher's waterfall depicts a watercourse that flows in a zigzag along the long sides of two elongated Penrose triangles (the impossible triangle) so that it ends up two storeys higher than it began. The resulting waterfall, forming the short sides of both triangles drives the mill water wheel. In this optical illusion, the water can run endlessly and keep spinning the mill wheel. My rendering of Escher's waterfall is painted using acrylic on canvas board measuring 400 x 300mm (16" x 12"). The painting is protected by two coats of satin varnish and was signed and dated by me. .jpg) If you have a favourite optical illusion that you would like me to paint contact me by email.

Prior to 1821, when the first bridge was built, and since Roman times there was a ford across the River Clyde close to where Dalmarnock Bridge stands today. The earliest history of Dalmarnock is strongly associated with the Ford. In medieval times it was probably used by the masons who helped build Glasgow Catherdral as they travelled to and from Rutherglen. Mary Queen of Scots is alleged to have used Dalmarnock Ford as she fled south following her defeat at the Battle of Langside in 1568. My painting, "Dalmarnock Ford" shows how the ford might have looked in the early 19th century as a four-horse drawn carriage takes travellers across the river from Rutherglen. The painting using acrylic on canvas board measures 406 x 305mm (approx. 16"x12"). It was signed and dated by me in October 2009. More examples of paintings by glesca artist can be seen on his web site www.glescapals.com/profiles/wneilly.htm which was designed by Webmaister himself.

Winnie was adopted by my daughter Vivienne from the Cats Protection on 18 February 2006. It was reckoned that Winnie was three years of age. She was a feral cat who lived around DiMaggio's Restaurant in Hamilton. She had been knocked down in 2004 and sustained injuries that left her blind in the left eye, a broken left leg, broken pelvis and sternum. Winnie later became deaf and died on 21 September 2009 from cancer of the bowel and pancreas. She was buried beside Tendi, Nutty, Ebony and Patz in my back garden. This drawing using graphite on extra smooth Bristol Board was completed, signed and dated by me in September 2009. .jpg)

Winter images of Bridgeton Cross in the 1950's painted by me using acrylic on canvas board measuring 20" x 16" (508 x 406mm). The charity Glasgow City Heritage Trust who recently contributed £50,000 towards the restoration of the Umbrella at Bridgeton Cross during 2010 wrote: "We came across your wonderful paintings of the area on the internet. We really like your paintings and would like to use a digital image of Winter at Bridgeton Cross in our annual Christmas Card this year". Glesca Artist has already used Snowing at Bridgeton Cross on his Christmas card and mouse mat this year. Snowing at Bridgeton Cross A Wet Wintry Night at Bridgeton Cross Winter at Bridgeton Cross

My painting of the "Citizens Theatre"was commissioned by Glesca Pal Joyce who particularly wanted Des Dillion's, "Singin' I'm No A Billy He's A Tim" on the billboards as this played at the theatre in June 2009. It was signed and dated by me in August 2009. .jpg) Both the Citizens Theatre and the NLP Theatre Company have posted an image of my painting on their web sites. Lynne Highway, Edinburgh, bought this 508 x 406mm (20" x 16") original acrylic painting, " A Wet Wintry Night At Bridgeton Cross" as a Christmas present for her gran. .jpg) Looking southwards, Dalmarnock Road is to the left beyond the Umbrella with Main Street to the right of the number 26 tramcar enroute to Scotstoun via Partick. The tramcar on the left, number 26A, is en route to Shawfield via Main Street, Bridgeton. James Street is located to the right of the two motor vehicles, entering the cross from Main Street at Cockburns the Chemist. The number 106 trolley bus travelled from Millerston to Govan along James Street. The Carter is heading towards the coal depot in Dalmarnock Road located between Dalmarnock Tollhouse, at Springfield Road, and Dalmarnock Railway Station. Lynne Highway wrote "I just wanted to let you know my gran loves her painting - it looks great hanging up and even better than it does on-line. Definitely my most successful Christmas present this year."
