Hi Wull as to reading the thread ( clicked on the link ) to the book that no doubt is great. From a non (Sectarian View ) ;D ;D ;D It seems to be Overdosed in its presentation in Green ( and mention of a particular FITBA park )in its itroduction to the Glesca Pals Web site for pals to purchase. No doubt ANDYMO will be the first to purchase this book, And Bud will be Peed off being second. ;D ;D . Sorry Wull but in My View That book looks as if in its advertising is catering to a certain Religion . I Thought we were trying to get rid of Religious Bigotry, But then agian Wull knowing the Gentleman that you are, you believe in everyone getting a fair crack o the whip. Effturr awe its, no Color of it that sells book,s it,s the content. Awerabest

NC I thought you would be pleased Wull is giving equal coverage to both religions. Isn't this what you advocate?

I. its not a Celtic book its a book written by a Glesca man about his life and upbringing 2. Celtic is mentioned because John grew up in the shadow of Celtic park. 3. Its a Glesca Pals book because John is mah pal weeesh whit a stooshie! Well Pals ah hiv met John and he has a tale tae tell, wonderful stories about an era long gone, never tae return, but brought back tae life in this book. Glesca folk, pals wi' an appetite for reading aboot hame wull luv it.

AH BELANG TAE GLASGOW .......... relates the author's right of passage in Glasgow's East End. Emerging after 4 years of treatment in the years leading up to World-War II, all of the gritty reality, violence, yet indefatigable humour that is woven into the "Glesca" cultural fabric is portrayed faithfully. In the not too distant world that had no television and little radio, "ra peepul" relied on their own self-made entertainment, the occasional cinema trip but especially the weekly tribal battles know as the 'fitba' and 'ra dancin''. Alternately moving and laugh-out-loud funny, the author perfectly conveys the mood of the times and the character and spirit with which every Scot can identify.

Well done John.

This is josie and i for one have recomended everyone who has an interest in Glasgow of the old should read this book and having lived in the U.S.A. for 38 years can not see what the color of a book has to do with religion , i would think we as supposed to be grown up would try to keep these immature thoughts to ourselves . That was the one thing i liked when i came to the States having married a wonderful man that was of a different religion ,that when my girls went to school the schools were mixed religion and our beliefs were taught at home and not brought into every day life at school as was the case in Glasgow , being a caring and honest human being is worth more than anything in my opinion . This is a Wonderful Book and i highly recommend reading it to all . Josie
