Hi Joyce, I am glad my book has pleased your boyriend, that gives me a lot of pleasure, and a big thank you for letting me know. There are not many books about peoples' memories of Bridgeton. When I was writing my own that was one of the things I took into big consideration, as I reckoned there would be a good market for one and I was correct. Since then there have been a few. I would recommend John McBarron's reminiscences of the area in 'Ah Belang Tae Glesca.' John lived just over a hundred yards from me in Dalmarnock but in a different era. He writes of the area from a a point twenty years before I was born.It is a very good read.

I am new to Glesca Pals. Regarding Jim (Mckenna). I was on the same course as Jim, when he was typing his book (first edition). I use to give him the odd bit advice about computers when he could not suss something out (he was not not very computer literate in those days) Guy that ran the course, Derek, helped Jim recover about 3 whole chapters he thought he had lost (in "Word"). I was writing Guitar Tuition Books. I am also a published songwriter. The following link is a song about my girlfriends best pal's suicide, in Glasgow a few years back. I think the words are apporpriate for all of us who have lost someone, "peace DOES lie waiting" somehwere. So you can "borrow it" as a dedication for a few minutes, Jim, me auld pal Sorry to have lost touch, and know now why e mails stopped. R.I.P. Anyone reading this, please feel free to pass the link to the song on, but it may not be broadcasted for commercial purposes (radio etc) as it "is now", as the singer is only our demo singer(Kim has sang with Bee Gees etc). We have still to find another singer and a publisher.

Aye, Jim, urr "Jamesy" as he wiz known oan Glesca Pals, wiz wan of a kind right enough. He is remembered fondly by maist pals that hud the pleasure tae exchange banter wi him, although Jamesy's responses wurr, tae put it politely, usually very concise! As fer computer literacy, aah'm afraid his knowledge o the wurld o' computers wiz somewhat lacking right tae the end, despite his investment in a new laptoap. Aah'm sure ye'll find a few Jamesy-esque anecdotes and a good few of Jamesy's pals willing tae share them wi ye. Welcome tae Glesca Pals jamesstevenson, and lang may yer lumb reek ;D That's a lovely gesture re yer song

A Tribute To James McKenna Hello folks I met Jamesy a few times and my copy of Last Exit From Bridgeton was signed by Jamesy for me at one of the Glesca Pals 'hoose parties'. My tribute to him is long overdue, but until now my blog style did not allow for the kind of book review I wanted to do. I'm pleased to say I've rectified that and Jamesy's book is proudly displayed on the front page of my blog and will stay there for a wee while, but the original post will always be available long after it leaves the front page, via the category page and will come up in Google searches. I've also posted a modified version of the review on Amazon. Please click on my website. Please note that the front page tab is not the full review, there is a link to the full post. scotchpotch.com
